Our modern, demanding lifestyles dictate that an increasing amount of time is spent in transit and much of our experience of place and space is constructed from visual glimpses shaped by our memories, thoughts and emotions in a particular instant.

We increasingly experience place as a passenger through car, bus or train windows through which we are detached from the exterior landscape, which appears to be played to us continuously as if on a reel of film. How does this shape our consciousness of the world around us?

In the series Travelling Landscapes, I have depicted a world in transit, one in which landscapes viewed through a car window merge with visual representations of the vehicle, forming a poetic depiction of our perceptions of place and creating a visual metaphor for our transient lives.
